I have never been so excited about Valentine's Day.
Pre-2010, Loren and I did not usually do much on this particular day-feeling that every day should be a day where we uplift and show love to each other. We had nothing against the holiday just didn't want to partake in the commercialism of it all-flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals, etc. This year however, we have a three and a half year old and that changes everything. She's all about "Love" and celebrating any holiday that comes her way. And her excitement gets us excited. We still don't do flowers, chocolates or the typical Valentine's Day stuff (although we did get Grace 2 coloring books and two Valentine's Day books and a teeny tiny bag of pink candy corns) but it gives us an excuse to make cute homemade Valentine's Day cards, hang huge red hearts made by Grace at preschool, paint rocks pink and the such. And, today we got together with our best buds and made Valentine's Day Cookie Pops. What fun!
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and we, in typical Statema laid back fashion, will make some heart shaped pancakes with Grandma Statema and our new roommate, Moe (Melissa). Then will go to church. After church we'll head to the Olypmia Hands On Children's Museum. Loren and Grace are going to be making me a surprise dinner-shhhh, I'm not suppose to know. And, that will be our Valentine's Day.
We hope your day is filled with love! God's previous and abundant love.
