Praying

Dear Grace:

"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. "

Matthew 6:3: 5- 8

I love this verse Grace.

It saddens my heart to see people in public/church trying hard to show off.
Doing things for others to see instead of doing what God has lead them to do.
Prayer and Praise is for God and Him alone,not for those around you.
According to this verse, we need to seek the Lord humbly and with out show.

And, I love how it speaks about not babbling on and on with prayer. I personally, don't like long prayers. God knows our hearts, he knows what we need and we don't need to show off with our words for God to know what we are seeking. Listening to you pray has taught me a ton about prayer, Grace. You pray with no lingering random thoughts and your prayers are short, sweet and to the point. They are the kind of prayers described in this verse. Thank you again Grace for teaching me more about God and His word than the most brilliant of scholars.
