Dave Ramsey: FPU

Since we got married 6 years ago our finances have been up and down, up and down, thanks to job lay offs & lack of financial knowledge. After moving here two years ago and hearing about the class "Financial Peace University" being held at the church we were attending we knew we had no choice but to attend. Sadly it took 2 years to get into the class. However, knowing that everything happens according to God's plan, good or bad, we know that this is exactly when we are suppose to take it.

It's a class by Dave Ramsey http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/home/
We'll meet every Wednesday from 6:30-8pm.
While we are in class, Grace will be in Awana (a class at church that teaches kids all about the bible-scripture memorization-it's tons of fun.)

OUR GOAL
To be debt free with in the next three years. I can wait to scream out loud: I AM DEBT FREE!!!
To take control of our finances instead of letting them take control of us.

Neither of us were really taught about money and finances and how all of it works growing up. It was kind of a mystery to us.
Our side goal is to teach Grace everything we've learned as soon as she's old enough. We don't want our finances to be kept from her. We plan on showing her our budget, how much we make, how we save (once we pay off our debt)....EVERYTHING! Knowledge will bring her so much freedom and power. .

We want to be able to pay for Gracie's college. I missed out on a lot while going to college due to having to work 2-3 jobs at a time and the stress of paying off all the loans is not a pleasant experience. To be able to bless her in this way, will be one of my greatest joys.

We want to make sure we are able to pay for her wedding, when the time comes, with out going into debt over it.
To be able to pay for everything with cash will be thrilling.

The only other thing I would like to see in our future, are vacations. I can not wait to be debt free so we can travel and explore as a family and Loren & I as a couple.

OUR DEBT
one big credit card that we've been trying to pay off for two years now and still have quite far to go-darn interest rates
student loans
two scooter payments (which will be paid off come next April when Loren gets his bonus-Hallelujah
And, we still have a house in FL that has been up for sale for 3+ years

If you are in debt in any way this is a class I HIGHLY recommend.
It has set so many people free. It's fun. It's knowledgeable. It's hard work-not a quick get rich plan (like I mentioned it will take us about 3 years to be SET FREE!!!!) but so worth it to finally be free from financial bondage.

PLEASE PRAY

Please pray for our journey through this 13 week class.
Please pray for our time after this class. It will be a daily process and life change which can be hard and tedious.
Please pray that we don't give up. Please pray that we stick to our goals. Please pray that we are wise about our fiances for the rest of our lives.
-We are both looking for another small side job to help move this process forward.

Thank you.

So glad you guys are taking the class. We just started it last night at church here in Lake Worth (First Nazarene). We too are thrilled to be learning about handling our money and I've been recommending it to the couples I work with. Wishing you blessings as you start on this debt elimination journey!
