4th of July 2009

Ohhhhh, the 4th of July.
A tragic day for our sweet Gracie poo.
She is hypersensitive to sound. We decided to go to the Freedom Festival. We went early in the morning BEFORE the scheduled air show as we know she is deeply terrified by the jets. Well, with out warning while we were happily enjoying our time with the firefighters when a LOUD jet decided to practice it "air show" tricks. I have never seen her so scared in my life. Her eyes grew blood shot, her heart was racing, she was shaking uncontrollably, crying, screaming and so on. There was no where for us to go to hide from the noise. It shook everything and was right over head and we were about a mile or more away from our car. We had ear plugs in, she covered her ears and I covered her ears and it still wasn't enough. I just wanted to cry and I felt so helpless.
We finally made it home and though all was settled. Then came bed time and our crazy neighbors and their fireworks. Well, long story short she's usually in bed at 7:30, couldn't fall asleep until 9:30 due to fireworks. She fell asleep covering her ears and basically just passed out from exhaustion. She was curled up in a little ball, shaking and prior to falling asleep would not close her eyes. Then one hour later at 10:30pm woke up to our house shaking from all the fire works going on around us. She was up from 10:30-1am in utter fear. I was holding her and holding her ears while she shook. It was so tragic. Finally at 1am, after we had left her room and our neighbors started to stop doing fireworks-FINALLY- she was able to fall asleep. What a trying, hard day for our sweet little 3 year old.

Happy 4th of July
